Research & Development

SGD has been on the cutting edge of innovation for decades. Our most recent creations highlight this spirit.
In Perfumery and Cosmetic, our clients consider SGD to be the most innovative manufacturer. They spontaneously cite our know-how and R&D as being "a real plus"…
L’Atelier de Création
An original organisation of 75 individuals, created at the end of 2004 and located in Mers-les-Bains (France), the workshop is exclusively dedicated to innovation and development. It combines R&D and product development to innovate and create new fragrance and cosmetic bottles.

The Trend Collection
A unique approach for a glass-maker, this collection illustrates SGD's know-how and creativity through prospective presentations.
Thanks to the Creation Workshop and the Trend Collection, SGD is a forerunner in a prospective approach focusing on tomorrow's techniques.
Beyond this major competitive advantage, our objective is to always go further in this direction so that our clients can grow in all of their respective markets.
In Pharmacy, SGD constantly assimilates and anticipates its clients' constraints and requirements.
The Group dedicates significant resources to Research and Development, especially with regards to internal coatings, lyophilisation, small sterilized bottles and sterilized plastic coatings.
These continual R&D efforts have allowed us to become:
- Pioneers in the creation of clean rooms (class 100,000); SGD is the only glass-maker whose factories are all equipped with them.
- 1st glass-maker specialized in moulded glass to be certified ISO 15378 (ISO 9001 in addition to the GMP).*
- Creator of the “U Save” line, designed for expensive medication which requires extremely precise doses.
- Inventor of the Thermo-sealed Pack and development of a line of unpacking machines, adapted to our clients' needs.
- Forerunner in the development of a new type I glass formula (Asolvex®) containing a low alumina rate, in order to meet requirements related to the risks linked to the presence of this substance in medication.
- Launch of the EasyLyo line, featuring type I moulded glass containers that offer greater resistance and are better suited to the extreme conditions encountered during the lyophilisation process.
